Abstract:

Children develop their vocabulary, learn social ROLES and build relationships through reading story books. They get familiar with behaviors and actions which are attributed to men and women through these books. So the way mens and womens ROLES are represented in story books is very important. It is the main goal of this research to see how gender patterns are represented in story books. Despite the fact that statistics show that Iranian women undertake important social ROLES and are not merely restricted to their traditional ROLES such as motherhood, housewifery, teaching and nursing, they rarely appear in some of the key and INFLUENTIAL ROLES. The method applied in this research is content analysis.

Abstract:

The different ways in which men and women behave are linked to، but not necessarily determined by، their biological sex. Individuals are identifi ed as male or female on the basis of physical structures، which are determined by chromosomes، gonads، and hormones. This labeling occurs at birth and is the fi rst step in the process of developing gender identity — a sense of being male or female and what that means in one’ s society.

Abstract:

Background: This study aimed at determining the job satisfaction level of the staff in Shahroud University of Medical Sciences (SUMS), northern Iran, and its INFLUENTIAL factors. Methods: In this descriptive study, conducted in 2008, the participants were 384 workers in SUMS selected through simple random sampling procedure. The participants received a 33-item questionnaire in a Likert format (8 general items and 25 items related to job satisfaction facets). The collected data in form of frequencies and percentages were analyzed with SPSS software. Results: 53.4% of interviewees were female and more than 60% had associate or higher degrees. 42.6% had less than 10 yr and 30.9% had 20 to 30 yr of job experience, respectively. The mean of the overall satisfaction was 13.02 out of 20. Regarding the facets of job satisfaction, work, coworkers, supervisor, and promotion had the highest means, respectively. Pearson and Spearman correlation coefficients showed a significant relationship between overall satisfaction and the facets (P=0.001). Analysis of variance also showed significant difference in overall satisfaction based on organizational units; however, no significant relationship was observed between overall satisfaction and gender, degree, age, job experience and type of employment. Conclusion: Improvement of promotion process, training and qualifying managers, observing meritocracy principles in appointments, using cooperative management, creating convivial and friendly atmosphere and improving work environment conditions, have brought about an increase in overall satisfaction of employees in SUMS.

Abstract:

The aim of this study was to identify and rank the factors affecting the development of cultural capital in the education system. The present research is applied in terms of purpose and in terms of how to collect information is part of mixed research (quantitative and qualitative). The statistical population in the qualitative part includes academic and knowledgeable experts in the field of cultural capital and in the quantitative part includes all high school students in Tehran. The sample size was estimated in the qualitative part with theoretical saturation (20 people) and in the quantitative part based on Cochran's formula 300 people. Purposeful sampling was used to select the sample in the qualitative part and stratified random sampling was used in the quantitative part, interview and quantitative, researcher-made questionnaire based on a 5-item scale. The validity of the questionnaire was confirmed in terms of form and content by several experts, the validity was confirmed by the calculation of the slope and the validity of the questionnaire was confirmed by the calculation of the square root of the AVE. The reliability of the questionnaire was obtained through Cronbach's alpha for the whole questionnaire of 0. 968. Cronbach's alpha, tangent (AVE) tests, AVE root matrix, Kolmogorus-Smirnov test, confirmatory factor analysis and sample t-test were used to analyze the data. The results identified 10 components and 185 indicators that 5 effective components including social identity, social capital, family interactions, media consumption and lifestyle and 5 effective dimensions of academic achievement, student empowerment, social responsibility,

Abstract:

"Bericolage identity" is one of the issues that people will be afflicted to because of the value conflicts and the upcoming norms as well as customs in the present society. Therefore, this article wants to study the INFLUENTIAL factors regarding “bericolage identity” among students. This study is a survey research using random sampling and research-made questionnaire that its validity and reliability has been measured through content validity and Cronbach alpha respectively. The population of the study is technology students in Babol University in 2012. The sample size is 250 individuals. The results indicated that there has been a statistically meaningful/significant difference between the occupational status of the students and the “bericolage identity”. On the other hand, there exists no statistically meaningful/significant difference among gender, marital status, and place of birth, place of residence and the level of education among participants. Moreover, the achieved result out of the Pearson Correlation Coefficient has revealed that there is a statistically direct and meaningful/significant correlation between the amount of utilization of mass media and bericolage identity. Nonetheless, there is a statistically reverse and meaningful/significant difference between their mothers` level of education and bericolage identity. So with regard to the above point, there is no meaningful/significant correlation among age, students` income, family income. Finally, the regression analysis illustrated that three variables of mother education, the occupational level of students, and marital status respectively expatiated the 19.7 percent variance of bericolage identity.

Abstract:

Background: Traditional approaches in Continuing Medical Education (CME) appear to be ineffective in any improvement of the patients’ care, reducing the medical errors, and/or altering physicians' behaviors. However, they are still executed by the CME providers, and are popular among the majority of the physicians. In this study, we aimed to explore the parameters involved in the degree of effectiveness of CME program in Iran. Methods: In this study, 31 participants, consisting of general practitioners, CME experts and providers were recruited to participate in in-depth interviews and field observations concerning experiences with CME. Application was made of the qualitative paradigm along with the qualitative content analysis, using grounded theory data analysis methodology (constant comparative analysis). Results: Based on the participants’ experiences, the insufficient consistency between the training program contents and the demands of GPs, in addition to the non-beneficiary programs for the physicians and the non-comprehensive educational designs, created a negative attitude to the continuing education among physicians. This could be defined by an unrealistic continuing education program, which is the main theme here. Conclusion: Impracticable continuing education has created a negative attitude toward the CME programs among physicians so much that they consider these programs less important, resulting in attending the said programs without any specific aim: they dodge absenteeism just to get the credit points. Evidently, promoting CME programs to improve the performance of the physicians requires factual needs assessment over and above adaptation of the contents to the physicians’ performance.
